July 12-18, 2015

David's class is now full but we will still take names for a waitlist if you're interested. Please contact Lindsey at intowncreative@gmail.com

Portaits in Oils ~ David Goatley: Art is for sharing. Teaching has been a path of giving back, sharing knowledge, study and growth for me ever since I became a professional artist.

I have taught in schools, colleges, summer programs, art clubs and societies across North America. Whatever the subject, I teach by example, through continual demonstrations and hands-on individual attention to each students work.

I hope you will join me at the tranquil and truly beautiful Shawnigan Lake School, for a 5 day workshop this July.

This workshop combines elements of painting from a live model and painting from photographs, for a real understanding of how many commissioned portraits are done.

Landscape Painting Workshop ~ Deborah Tilby:
Mastering the colours used in representational landscape painting will be the focus of this workshop. The course is designed to help you begin to develop or expand your knowledge of colour and colour mixing with exercises covering value, temperature, intensity and more. Each morning a different aspect of colour will be discussed with exercises to illustrate it.  The plan is to work on the colour exercises in the studio during the morning period and then head outdoors for the afternoon session to apply what is learned.  If the weather does not cooperate we will work from still life objects and/or landscape photos.

There will be demos and instruction on composition and the placement of elements within a landscape to create an interesting arrangement of shape, value and colour.

Oil is the preferred medium (using linseed oil, so no scent) though acrylic may be used.
